So it's been a little quiet on the virus front for the most part in 2014 until Q4 of this year when several Crypto Locker Virus variants have been spotted proliferating around the internet. These incredibly nasty viruses encrypt the first 512 bytes of every file in their path, effectively locking you out of your files unless you pay a hefty ransom, usually starting at around $500.00 and going into the thousands depending on which variant you have.
Last year the FBI along with an international team was able to shut down a large bot-net that was the source of Crypto Locker and since that time things have been relatively quiet. Now, however, it seems the crypto locker virus is back worse than ever. How do you protect yourself? The best offense is a good defense. Make sure you are backed up!
